Emma Lawrence
Dr. Emma Lawrence was the 2010-2011 Executive Director of MedPLUS Connect and is one of the three founding leaders of the organization. Emma earned her MD from the University of Michigan Medical School. She is currently a resident physician in the Department of OB/GYN at the University of Michigan. She holds a bachelors degree in Public Policy and Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a Morehead-Cain Scholar.
Sonya Narla
Sonya Narla served as the 2011-2012 Executive Director of MedPLUS Connect and has traveled to Ghana multiple times. She graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a bachelor's degree in English (BA) and a master's degree in Bioethics (MA). Sonya is a Dean's High Honors Scholar, a President's Scholar, and a cum laude graduate. She has extensive experience with service abroad, from serving on a healthcare team in Belize to teaching at an orphanage in South Africa. In addition to the National Community Service & Leadership award, Sonya has also earned the National Gold Award, the highest level of achievement in Girl Scouts, for her past work with Ronald McDonald House Charities. Sonya is currently studying for her medical degree at LECOM.
Emily Nix
Emily Nix served as the 2009-2010 Executive Director for MedPLUS Connect. She is one of three founding leaders of MedPLUS Connect. Emily is a PhD candidate in Economics at Yale University. She has served on the Executive Board of UNC's Campus Y and the Frank Porter Graham Selection Committee. She previously worked at Brookings Institute and is a Public Service Scholar at UNC, a North Carolina Fellow, and a National Science Foundation GRFP winner. Emily holds a bachelors degree in mathematics and economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a Morehead-Cain Scholar.
Lauren Slive Gennett
Lauren Slive Gennett is one of the three founding leaders of MedPLUS Connect. She is currently an associate in the Atlanta office of King & Spalding LLP where she represents healthcare clients in litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters. Lauren holds a JD from Emory University's School of Law and a MPH from Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health. Lauren also holds a BA in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she was a North Carolina Fellow and was elected to the Order of the Golden Fleece honorary society. Lauren led multiple student service trips in West Africa and previously worked for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Center for Adolescent Health & the Law, and the National Health Law Program.
Habib Yakubu
Habib Yakubu is currently a Public Health Project Coordinator at Emory University. He studied for his Masters degree in Public Health at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also earned his Bachelor of Science degree at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He has been awarded the Raymond and Stangl Scholarship for Public Health from UNC Gillings School of Public Health, the Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship from the US Department of State, Students Research Travel Award from UNC Gillings School of Public Health, International Internship Award from UNC Center for Global Initiatives and the International Undergraduates Student Summer Scholarship from the University of Cambridge, England.
Harriet Slive
Harriet Slive is the owner of Slivelaw, LLC. She has been practicing law in Cleveland since 1985. Harriet graduated from The Cleveland Marshall College of Law. She has a Master's Degree from Case Western Reserve University in Student Personnel Administration and a post-graduate Gestalt certification. She was the Administrative Director of the Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland from 1973-1985. She is currently the Board President of a homeowner’s association,a Board Member of the Center for Principled Family Advocacy (CPFA) and Co-Chair of the CPFA Collaborative Practice Group, Board Secretary of the Mediation Association of Northeast Ohio, a teacher of Nonviolent Communication, and a divorce and relationship change coach.
